"The Riverbed"

There is no coincidence all racers love coming here. Grandvalira is a magnificent place. The track is very popular among racers, and the weather is usually fantastic.

The track Riberal, which means riverbed in Catalan, is starting steep, then has a tiny compression followed by a gentle lip and a long smooth ride to the finish line.

From the view of a racer, the changes in the track are quite gentle, but studying the racers closely, it's easy to see how it upsets their aerodynamic positions. In order to ski fast here it's really important to manage the track changes.

It's not uncommon with warm days and cold nights here in the spring. Those mornings with a hard wet surface makes for really fast times!

Grandvalira is also the only place having a starting tower. It is used in Speed 1 finals. The tower can increase the speed with roughly 5 km/h.

Speeds in the Riberal track is between 140 and 200 km/h depending on class and conditions.

Grau Roig

Paradise for skiing in Andorra, Grandvalira

Grandvalira is a resort located in Andorra which covers the skiable areas of two of Andorra’s seven “parishes” (or provinces). It was founded back in 2003 when two of the Pyrenees’ oldest resorts, Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig (founded in 1956) and Soldeu-El Tarter (founded in 1964), joined together. This fusion gave rise to the largest resort in the Pyrenees and one of the largest in Europe with 210 km of ski run spread over a total of 128 slopes of all different levels, and the creation of one single forfait to enjoy all of the skiable territory.

Over its years of history, Grandvalira has seen important investment (a total of over €1 bn) spent on increasing the amount of skiable kilometers, renovating and increasing the network of ski lifts (the resort is now capable of handling more than 100,000 skiers/hour, meaning that lines at the lifts are now a thing of the past), improving the network of snow cannons (meaning that over 65% of the entire territory can be covered in artificial snow if required) and on broadening the range of activities the resort has to offer making it the best place to enjoy après-ski.

Its commitment to constant investment has been recognized by international bodies, and it has hosted such events as the 2012 Women’s Skiing World Cup and the trials for the 2012 and 2013 Speed Skiing World Cup - placing Grandvalira firmly as one of the top resorts on an international scale.

The tranquility of nature and the excitement of trying out something new and having fun go hand in hand at this innovative resort that has something to offer all its visitors.

Grandvalira is the best place you can imagine, a paradise for ski in Andorra. Organise your snow holidays, weekends and breaks, and enjoy an unforgettable experience.

All of the racing happens in the Grau Roig system, which is the furthest south in the main valley of Andorra. In the Grau Roig area at the upper parking there is a beautiful hotel, Grau Roig Andorra Hotel & Spa if you wish to stay in the slope.

Just a bit northwest on the way to Soldeu is Els Llacs , a popular place among the racers with beautiful rustic appartments with a great view.

In Soldeu are a lot of hotels. The racers very often enjoy Parador Canaro in the middle of Soldeu.

A bit further down in El Tarter is a large supermarket with a very distinct style, Caves Manacor , where you can get the perfect fuet salami! On the other side of the street is one of the best ski stores in Andorra, Esports Espunyes .
