Joost Vandendries

Joost Vandendries is a Belgian speedskier.

Born in 1971, in a country mostly known for cycling, he only started skiing at the age of 16. Since then he has been a very passionate skier.

He debuted the FIS Speed Skiing World Cup in 2010 in Vars. After a bad crash in Verbier the same year with subsequent back problems he had to take a break from the sport.

He returned to Speed Skiing in 2015. In 2016, back in Vars he improves his personal record with a speed of 198,670 km/h. 2017 has been a good year finishing with a solid 12th position in Andorra pushing beyond 193 in the Riberal slope.

Joost current goal is to break the 20 year old Belgian record of 215.311 km/h.

Off season Joost is alternating between paragliding and waterskiing.
