Emilio Giacomelli is an Italian speed ski athlete in the S1 class.
Emilio was born in Cirié, Turin. He started skiing when he was 13 years old. Talented and a fast learner, he began racing SL and GS when he was 16.
It was a magazine article of Simone Origone and his first world record in 2006 that made Emilio interested of the sport. In 2013 he made his debut in the FIS Speed Ski World Cup in the SDH class using FIS approved downhill equipment. He raced both in Grandvalira and in Verbier and placed top 10 in both with a 6'th place in Andorra and a 7'th in Switzerland. Already in his second race he hit 191.39 km/h.
For the 2017 season Emilio changed to the S1 class and scored his first FIS World Cup S1 top-10 in his third race, with a 9'th position in Grandvalira. He set his new S1 personal best in the Semi Finals with a speed if 195.41.
Emilio is consistently fast and the 2018 season looks promising.
Emilio lives in Mathi, Turin with the mountains nearby. He prepares for the season with cycling, paragliding, rock climbing, ice climging and steep skiing.
